Saturday. Off to Limoges today for some culture. The market
was the planned stop and boy, was it good. The ‘Halles” was designed by Gustave
Eiffel, so there was some steel in the design. Bricks and glass too. This was a
very posh market. Some poncy interior designers must have been employed to
display the fruit and veg and the extensive seafood and meats. But, best of all,
was the central area of bars, providing liquid sustenance to patrons who may
have purchased some oysters, smoked salmon or tapas (French style tartines
mainly). However, there was also evidence of a multi cultural element, with
Cambodian food and a scented Moroccan food stall. Not knowing that the market would
offer so much and mindful of the absolute need for Lady P to have a coffee
before 11 am, we had indulged in coffee and chocolate biscuit at a student café,
so alas, Flashy was too full for 12 oysters and a glass of Chardy.
Between the devil time of 12 to14 hundred when rural France
goes home to lunch and most places close, we walked along the river to a bar.
Good old Nanny P had found the “Drop Kick Bar.” Would go off on a good day I
reckon. We were practically the only customers and the young lad behind the bar
spoke good English. The music from the 100 speakers and TV’s – get the picture?
Well, that was also all in English. How the hell will Flashy ever learn French?
Refreshed with an Irish stout and a bowl of nachos, we walked across the road
to the Limoges Porcelain Musee. Limoges is famous for its porcelain. Great musee
and an informative, cultural experience. Just what Flashy likes! About 3.000 € would get you a good dinner set.
As the weather turns to cold/damp, we head home to feed the
dogs and cats, light the fire and prepare for tomorrow’s departure.

Back in LPR to sunny but cold Spring weather. 2C this
morning. Being in the country, it is wonderful to see the change in the season.
Most of our trees now have leaves!
Monday and Tuesday were occupied with gardening. Flashy
actually mowed part of the lawns. But mostly he mixes chemical cocktails to
kill the weeds. Lady P attacks the blackberry vines in the Honeysuckle hedge.
We cook, light the fire and sometimes have a conversation. There is no TV.
Lord Flashman.
The house. Limoges countryside.
Yes. you put your money in. Press the button. and out comes a pizza.
He does walk up hills!
Gustave's design.
He could be a Pommy furnace inspector!
